Investing in imaging
A recent addition to our capabilities is the
Trimble VX Spatial Station, an advanced positioning system that combines optical, 3D scanning and video capabilities. This equipment measures objects in 3D to produce 2D and 3D data sets for spatial imaging projects and means that we can meet clients' increasing needs for visualisation of data.
This equipment can now provide extremely accurate ground-based information to millimetre positioning, 3D measurements and video imaging. Our surveyors can select target points for measuring by tapping a touch screen, giving us improved efficiency for remote or coarse aiming measurements. The technology also includes a data overlay feature, which means surveyors can check in real-time that all the necessary features have been measured before leaving a job site. This reduces the potential for rework and duplication and the digital images of the site are then stored for quality assurance and for presentation purposes.
For applications such as 3D modelling and volume calculation, the Trimble VX Spatial Station also includes a 3D scanning function, which allows our surveyors to collect surface measurements and shapes very quickly. The scanning function is ideal for detailed measurement of large surfaces and volumes and scanned data can be easily combined with discrete point data.
